Certified  Sustainable & Vegan

Vino de Eyzaguirre wines have always been farmed sustainably. The early motivation in using these green practices was easy: sustainable grapes yield clean, unspoiled, varietals. In the past several years we have extended our efforts past the vineyards to improvements at the winery and employees. The combination of these sustainable efforts have earned us the highest accreditation in Chile, “Certified Sustainable.”

Everything starts in the vineyard, here we’re placing emphasis on the handling of natural resources:

  • No chemicals
  • No pesticides
  • Only mechanical weed control
  • Natural grapefruit seed extract to combat mold
  • Indigenous owls and falcons to control invasive rodents
  • Fertilizer composted from grapes skins and pulp
  • Grape stem coverage on our dirt roads to prevent erosion and dust
  • Cover crops to add extra organic matter and natural nitrogen to the soils
  • Biodiversity of beneficial bugs and worms
  • Water-saving irrigation

In the winery and throughout production we’re working with:

  • Only native yeast strains
  • No GMOs (genetically modified organisms)
  • A water-irrigated roof which naturally cools our work space without air conditioning
  • Recycled water to a reservoir in the vineyards for irrigation
  • A certified waste management company
